Tottenham look to enter the race for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the summer if they fail to win promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds’s form has dropped off considerably in recent weeks but still find themselves in second place in the Championship table.
A report by Football Insider claims that Spurs are aware that the will face a difficult challenge to prise Phillips away from Elland Road in the summer if Marcelo Bielsa’s side are finally successful in their quest for promotion.
It is suggested that Spurs are keen on adding a midfield anchorman to the squad when the transfer window reopens with Phillips being identified as a potential target.
Leeds announced in September when Phillips signed a new deal that they had rebuffed “multiple offers in excess of £20 million” for his services.
The report suggests the Champions League finalists were among the clubs to express an interest in the 24-year-old last summer and are continuing to monitor his progress closely.

Eric Dier has failed set the world alight in recent weeks and if he fails to sign a new deal, I expect the club to sell him in the summer. However, I believe Mourinho will ideally want to keep Dier and get him signed on a long term deal rather than losing him and recruiting a replacement. Dier still seems to have Jose’s trust for the moment.
