Tottenham winger Jack Clarke has labelled Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, his ‘hero’ after his former club lifted the Championship title on the back of a sensational campaign.
Clarke, who came through the Leeds academy ranks completed a £10million to Tottenham last summer after breaking into Marcelo Bielsa’ side last season (The Sun).
After falling short last campaign, Bielsa’s men have now got Leeds back to the Premier League for the first time in sixteen years and Philips, being the side’s linchpin in midfield was an important part of the achievement,
Leeds thrashed Charlton 4-0 on Wednesday to cap off their season in style and lift the title.
Following the triumph, Phillips posted a picture of the trophy lift on his Instagram, with the captain: What a day! What a team!.
In response to the post, Clarke simply commented ‘My hero’.
The 19-year-old’s season has gone in the completely opposite trajectory to his former club, as he has failed to get sufficient game time during either of his loan spells at Leeds and QPR.

One has to feel for Clarke as it looked like the sky was the limit for him a year ago. It cannot be easy getting your big move to the Premier League, only then to struggle for game time in the Championship, while seeing your boyhood club achieve promotion.
The teenager might be having regrets over his decision to make the move to Spurs. Hopefully, he can turn things around next season and show what Tottenham’s scouts saw in him.
