Leeds United midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, who starred in England’s Euro 2020 opener against Croatia this week, has now opened up on when Harry Kane left him ‘in awe’ in training.

Kane did not enjoy his best match in an England shirt on Sunday as he struggled to get into the game, but the striker did draw defenders away from Sterling for the only goal.

Phillips has now revealed that the Spurs centre-forward certainly looks fit and sharp in training, recalling a particular drill from the England camp.

The drill in question was a seven versus seven possession-based drill, with Harry Kane acting as a floater for both teams.

Phillips claimed that the ball was being fizzed into Kane from all angles and at all heights, but the Spurs talisman was distributing it with ease on his first touch every time.

Kane comes into Euro 2020 off the back of a sensational season with Spurs, having scored 33 goals and assisted another 17 across 49 games in all competitions (TransferMarkt).

Phillips said (England YouTube channel from 19:40): “We did a possession-based drill, 7v7, and Harry [Kane] was a floater. But he was one touch. The ball was getting zinged in at him knee height, chest height, but he was bopping it off one touch with his left foot, right foot, chest, head. I was just in awe of what I was seeing.”
