According to the Daily Mail, Leeds could be forced into selling Kalvin Phillips for just £30 million if the club suffers relegation from the Premier League, with Tottenham thought to be interested.

Leeds have endured a tough campaign after making their bold return to the top flight last season, with the club currently hovering just two points above the drop zone.

The Whites recently enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run under Jesse Marsch, who replaced Marcelo Bielsa in the dugout in February, but have still been dragged towards danger following Burnley’s recent resurgence.

And while relegation will be Leeds’ biggest concern at the moment, they will likely be thinking about the prospect of losing a handful of their top players ahead of next season.

The Daily Mail has claimed a number of Leeds stars could become available for transfer this summer – including England international Phillips – after having relegation release clauses written into their contracts.

The likes of Raphinha and Patrick Bamford are also named as squad members who could depart if the Yorkshire-based outfit drop down into the Championship, with the report noting the players could fetch around £30 million each.

The clauses could work in favour of Tottenham, who are noted to have been keeping tabs on Phillips this season.

The Telegraph recently reported that Antonio Conte is a fan of the 26-year-old midfielder and identified him as one of six potential additions the Italian has requested this summer.

Phillips has made 19 appearances in the Premier League this term and returned to the Leeds fold last month following two months out with a hamstring injury (Transfermarkt).

Leeds’ potential relegation from the Premier League could provide clubs with an opportunity to land a handful of smart players for a modest fee thanks to these clauses. Phillips will definitely be one to look out for in Tottenham’s case considering the midfield isn’t up to scratch just yet.
