The Telegraph have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on as many as eight new signings during the summer transfer window.
The report states that in order to remain at the club, Antonio Conte wants assurances that Spurs are ready to meet his ambitions and build a squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts next season.
The Italian allegedly wants six to eight new signings this summer, with Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici set to tell the Spurs boss they will target two wing-backs, a left centre-back, a midfielder and a forward who can also play out wide.
It is explained that Conte also wants guarantees that the club will continue to follow his guidance, rather than making their own signings.
The Telegraph reveal that in addition to signing Fraser Forster as a backup goalkeeper, Spurs’ list of targets includes Alessandro Bastoni, Gleison Bremer, Djed Spence, Christian Eriksen, James Ward-Prowse, Kalvin Phillips and Gabriel Jesus.
The report asserts that Conte is also interested in Raheem Sterling but it is suggested that Spurs might not be able to afford the transfer fee and wages it would take to snap up the City star.
Spurs Web Opinion
Realistically speaking, we need at least two wing-backs, a left-centre-back and a central midfielder and one forward this summer, if we are to have hopes of competing with City and Liverpool next season.
If we manage to bring in Bastoni, Kostic, Spence, Eriksen, Phillips and Jesus while letting go of Winks, Sanchez, Emerson, Ndombele, Lo Celso and Bergwijn, that will be an outstanding window for us.
Finding buyers for some of our deadwood will be a challenge, given that not a lot of clubs outside the Premier League have too much money to spend. I would expect Paratici to try to propose some part-exchange deals.
