It appears that the announcement of Steven Bergwijn as a Tottenham player is only a short while away, as a Dutch media outlet have already published the first interview with him.

Sport Witness report that De Telegraaf actually flew out to London with Bergwijn and his team ahead of the Tottenham transfer.

They arrived on Tuesday morning at Luton Airport on a private jet before hopping in a taxi to Hotspur Way. Of course, Jose Mourinho was there to greet the player at the training facility.

De Telegraaf were even able to get an interview with Bergwijn to publish in their Wednesday edition (29/01/20), even before the announcement of the transfer had been made.

In the quotes, Bergwijn reveals his thoughts on Jose Mourinho as a manager and getting used to playing in the Premier League compared to the Eredivisie.

The online version of the article added that Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm came to put the player and his family at ease about the move. It also added that Bergwijn’s contract would run until 2025 (De Telegraaf).

Bergwijn said: “I have always looked up to a top coach like Mourinho. And now I’m going to play for him. It’s great to be here. Just look at the facilities around us. When I play on the Playstation Fifa, I almost always choose a team from the Premier League. I look forward to playing in that great atmosphere.

“Of course it will take some getting used to, but it will all be alright. I think that my physical match is also good in the Premier League. I believe in myself and I really know that I am not there yet. Of course, I have played many matches in the Eredivisie. England is a bit different, but I know what I can do.”
