Football.London claim Tottenham Hotspur have signed a pre-contractual agreement with Manchester City youngster Herbie James, beating Everton and Wolves to the signature of the 16-year-old.
James signed for City from Port Vale back in 2018 as an 11-year-old and has developed through the youth system at the Premier League giants since.
Tottenham may have attacking talent like Harry Kane, Richarlison, Heung-min Son, and Dejan Kulusevski among their ranks in the first team, but it seems they are intent on stocking up for the future of late.
The North London club have promising strikers Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott out on loan at the moment.
Spurs have also signed Will Lankshear and Jude Soonsup-Bell in the last year to add to the conveyor belt of talent coming through the youth system.
Clearly, Spurs are not done yet, with James set to arrive on a three-year deal in the summer.
The 16-year-old is highly rated within the world of football and was seen as one of the brightest prospects in the City academy.
James was courted by Premier League rivals Everton and Wolves before Spurs sealed the deal recently.
He will join Tottenham in the summer and go straight into the youth team there.
It remains to be seen just how bright a future the youngster can have with the club, but the fact that Spurs have managed to lure one of City’s most talented academy stars is seen as something of a coup.
Spurs Web Opinion
I don’t know much about Herbie James, but by the sounds of it, we’ve got a real talent on our hands.
It’s exciting to see a player making the move from City to Spurs, as it was when Soonsup-Bell joined us from Chelsea.
It shows that the Tottenham project is still an interesting one for young players.
