FC Inter News have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have expressed interest in rumoured Tottenham target, Alessandro Bastoni.
Bastoni is thought to be one of the names at the top of Spurs’ wishlist list for the summer (InterLive.it).
However, Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta poured cold water over Tottenham’s hopes of landing the defender by insisting last week that he expects the player to commit his future to the club (Fabrizio Romano).
Tuttosport claimed a couple of days ago that despite Marotta’s assertion, the 23-year-old’s future is far from settled.
The publication revealed that while Bastoni wants to remain at Inter, he could leave if the Nerazzurri do not offer him a contract that is in line with his value to the team, with the two parties said to be quite a distance away from reaching an agreement.
This information has now been backed up by FC Inter News, who state that the Serie A club risk a repeat of the Milan Skriniar episode if they are not able to reach an agreement with Bastoni soon.
The report explains that PSG have already confirmed their interest in the Italy international while Pep Guardiola is also a ‘big fan’ of the player.
It is asserted that Man City are looking for a young defender, who is technically proficient and that Bastoni fits that profile perfectly.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not believe that Spurs stand a chance of winning the race for Bastoni even if he does not agree on a new deal with Inter.
I suspect the North London club have already shifted their attention to other left centre-back targets such as Evan Ndicka and Piero Hincapie.
