The Telegraph reveal that rumoured Tottenham target Wilfried Gnonto is refusing to play for Leeds United as he looks to force himself out of the club.
Gnonto impressed in his debut Premier League season for Leeds, netting four times and providing four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
It was reported by London World earlier this week Spurs are eyeing a move for the 19-year-old as they look to bolster their frontline following Harry Kane’s departure.
The publication claimed that agreeing personal terms with the wide-forward would not be an issue and that the player would be keen on making a switch to the North London club.
Wilfried Gnonto wishes to leave Leeds United
The Telegraph have now claimed that Gnonto is refusing to play for Daniel Farke’s side as he wants to leave Elland Road before the September 2 transfer deadline.
However, the report adds that Leeds have made it clear they will not let the Italy international leave the club.
It is explained that the relegated club are hopeful that the teenager can be integrated back into the squad and could eventually sign a new deal this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite possible that interested clubs (potentially including Spurs) have gotten in touch with Gnonto’s entourage about their interest, which is why the forward is protesting to leave.
If he continues his strike, I would not be surprised if Tottenham test Leeds’ resolve with an offer over the coming days.
