Joe Rodon has seemingly not hit the ground running at Leeds United, with the centre-back getting some mixed reviews for his display against Sheffield United on Saturday.
Things did go according to plan for Rodon during his loan spell at Rennes last season and the centre-back has dropped back down to the Championship in an effort to get his career back on track.
Even though the defender established himself as a mainstay in Leeds’ backline, having started all of the club’s last three matches, his spell at Elland Road appears to have got off to a shaky start.
Leeds Live gave the on-loan Tottenham man a rating of 6/10 for his display in the 0-0 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday, with the outlet suggesting that the Wales international has plenty of room for improvement.
Rodon and Spence are easing their way into Leeds life
The publication wrote about Rodon’s performance: “Still feels like he is playing his way into some rhythm after such a minimal pre-season. First touch and judgement seem rusty.”
Meanwhile, Djed Spence came on for his Leeds debut in the dying stages of the game, replacing the experienced Luke Ayling in the 82nd minute.
Leeds Live wrote about the 23-year-old: “Too late for a mark, but a very good first impression at right-back in the little time he had. Looked rapid and strong on the ball.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is to be expected that Rodon would be a little rusty, having not played much football over the last couple of years. Both he and Spence would need a run of starts to get up to speed as the Championship can be extremely demanding physically.
