Jack Grealish has said that he expects Harry Kane to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal record soon.
While Kane has had no issues finding the back of the net on international duty, the striker has struggled for goals at club level this season.
Just one of the 28-year-old’s strikes so far this campaign has come in the Premier League, a run which is by far the biggest lean spell in front of goal the Tottenham man has had since establishing himself as a regular in the Lilywhites first-team seven years ago.
The striker got his first goal of the Antonio Conte era against NS Mura in the Europa Conference League on Thursday but it was in vain as Spurs fell to an embarrassing 2-1 defeat.
Tottenham fans will be hoping the striker soon finds his goalscoring boots in the league and that the floodgates open for him.
Kane currently sits seventh in the all-time Premier League goals list with 167 strikers, 93 short of Shearer at the top.
Grealish is confident that his England teammate will break the Newcastle legend’s record.
When picking his ‘ultimate teammate’ based on a number of attributes, the Manchester City attacker told Premier League’s YouTube channel: “I’m going to go with Alan Shearer, or maybe Harry Kane, because I do actually think that Harry Kane will break the record soon.
“I’ll go Shearer, only because he’s the top scorer ever in the Premier League.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Kane remains in the Premier League for the rest of his career, he is almost guaranteed to break Shearer’s record. I see the Tottenham man playing on until he is 35 or 36 as he does not rely on his physical attributes.
