Jack Grealish has hailed Dele Alli’s performance in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, it seemed as if Alli’s days at Spurs were numbered, with the midfielder struggling to get game time since Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club.

Reports had indicated that the Italian had told the club to move the 25-year-old on in January, with the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham thought to be interested in the England international.

However, with some of Tottenham’s first-team players not available to start against Liverpool following the Covid-19 outbreak at the club, Alli got his opportunity on Sunday in what was a new-look midfield.

The former MK Dons man wound back the clock with an energetic display, making dangerous runs in behind the Liverpool defence.

While Alli would have been disappointed not to get on the scoresheet, the midfielder took to Instagram after the game to admit that he enjoyed being out there playing again.

Grealish replied to the Spurs man’s post with a comment that read: “Class today brother” followed by a clap and heart emojis.

Spurs Web Opinion

Alli demonstrated once again yesterday (just like he did under Nuno in the first few games of the season) that his biggest asset is his running power.

Not only did the 25-year-old work his socks off to get back but he was on his bike every time the Spurs midfielders and backline had the ball.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita could not keep up with him when he made his late runs into the box during counter-attacks.
