FranceInfo journalist Fabrice Hawkins has revealed that Crystal Palace have opened talks with Lens over a deal for Cheick Doucoure, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
Doucoure has established himself as a mainstay in Lens’ starting lineup over the past couple of years and has been one of their most consistent performers since the club’s promotion to Ligue 1 in 2020.
Jeunes Footeux reported back in February that Tottenham had expressed an interest in the versatile defensive midfielder, who can also operate at centre-back.
The report claimed that Spurs considered making an offer between €15m-€20m (£12.6m-£16.8m) for the player last summer before turning to ‘another track’.
The same publication revealed last week that Antonio Conte’s men were plotting a double-raid of Doucoure and his Lens teammate Seko Fofana this summer.
However, if Hawkins’ latest update is to be believed, it is Palace who have made the first move for Doucoure.
The journalist took to social media to reveal that the Eagles are ‘very interested’ in the Mali international and have made contact with Lens over a summer deal.

Paratici and his network of scouts will likely be watching a lot of talents from Ligue 1. So, just because Spurs have shown interest in Doucoure does not mean that an offer is likely to arrive from the club. However, a Pape Matar Sarr-like swoop cannot be completely ruled out.
