Destiny Udogie has received high praise from his Udinese teammate Kingsley Ehizibue, who admitted that he was blown away by the Tottenham man’s stamina in his first week at the Serie A club.

Spurs paid £20m to snap up Udogie from Udinese last summer on the back of his breakthrough season in Serie A and loaned the youngster back to Andrea Sottil’s side (Athletic).

While the deal might have seemed like a risky one at the time to some people, it is now looking like more and more of a bargain with each game that the 20-year-old plays this season.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last month that there is plenty of excitement at Tottenham regarding the impact that the left wing-back will have next season.

This was also backed up by 90min, who reported last week that the Spurs hierarchy have been impressed by the youngster’s progress.

Ehizibue has now further whetted the appetite of Tottenham fans by lavishing praise on the Italy Under-21 international.

He told the Serie A official website: “My team-mate Udogie; quality. He’s an excellent player.

“In my first week here, I saw him in training as he sprinted back and forth. I tried to follow him. But, after two or three sprints, I was exhausted while he continued serene. It’s impressive.”

Udogie’s engine and his ability in one vs one situations, both defensive and offensively, make him an ideal fit for the left wing-back role in our current system.

However, the new Spurs manager could prefer to set up with a back four instead, which means that the 20-year-old might have to adapt to a new system next season.
