Football.London have revealed on their weekly loan update that Destiny Udogie has found himself in the unusual position of having to come on as a second-half substitute during Udinese‘s last two Serie A encounters.
Udogie has enjoyed another impressive campaign at the Dacia Arena, having been an ever-present in Andrea Sottil’s starting eleven until recently.
The 20-year-old has made 31 league appearances this season, with three goals and four assists to his name so far (Transfermarkt).
However, the left wing-back has found himself being left on the bench for Udinese’s last two encounters against Fiorentina and Sampdoria – a situation he is not used to since breaking into the first team at the start of last season.
The Italy Under-21 international got 29 minutes as a substitute on Sunday as his side fell to a 2-0 defeat at Artemio Franchi Stadium.
Udogie has just three more games left in a Udinese shirt before he links up with the Tottenham squad for pre-season, a year on from sealing a move to North London.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think we should be reading too much into Udogie’s decline in form over the last few months.
Not only do Udinese have nothing to play for but the youngster’s head is probably already at Spurs, which might be the reason why Sottil has decided against starting him in the last two matches.
