Jurgen Klopp has insisted there is ‘no chance’ that Mohamed Salah will be risked against Wolves unless he is 100 per cent fit, even though the Egyptian is battling Son Heung-min for the Premier League Golden Boot.

Son has enjoyed his most productive season in front of goal since arriving in the Premier League in 2015, with the forward registering 21 goals and nine assists in the league so far (Transfermarkt).

The South Korean is just one goal short of Salah in the race for the golden boot heading into the final game of the season, which is particularly impressive when one considers that the Spurs star does not take penalties.

There is a question mark on Salah’s availability after he picked up a groin injury in the Reds’ FA Cup final win over Chelsea last week (Liverpool Echo).

The 29-year-old did not feature for Liverpool in their 2-1 win at St Mary’s on Tuesday and while Klopp admitted that Salah could be back against Wolves, the German insisted he would not be taking any sort of risk with the forward if he is not 100 per cent fit.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “With the other boys (apart from Joe Gomez), it looks all good. What we do with them for the weekend I have no idea.

“I actually understand 100 per cent the goalscoring battle with Heung-min Son but we have no chance that we take any risks. But Mo doesn’t want to take any risks, there is no doubt about that.

“It looks good but the boys make steps and we will see. My preferred solution would be that they all could play at the weekend for rhythm reasons, stuff like this, or at least could be on the bench and then we can bring them on or not, but they are involved. But if not, then we take it from there. I cannot say 100 per cent.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Salah starts for Liverpool, I think Son stands a good chance of winning the Golden Boot. The Egyptian has not been among the goals over recent months and I believe that the Tottenham forward will get plenty of chances at Carrow Road, given the way that Norwich play.
