Speaking on ESPN FC, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Tottenham could be a part of the Premier League title race this season.

Spurs finished fourth last season, pipping North London rivals Arsenal to a Champions League spot with a final-day thrashing of Norwich City.

This achievement marked a stellar job by Antonio Conte, who found Spurs in ninth position when he took the reigns last November (Eurosport).

The Italian has been backed by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy thus far in the transfer market, with five new signings already confirmed (Football.London).

Conte will be hoping that these acquisitions help his side progress and close the gap on Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

Klopp believes that the way in which Spurs are strengthening this summer will hold them in good stead.

When asked teams who could emerge and challenge Liverpool and Man City, Klopp said (ESPN FC): “You have to look at Tottenham, what they are doing now in the moment. They were doing well last year, and they didn’t get worse this year.”

Spurs ended last season 22 points behind Klopp’s Liverpool and 23 points behind champions Manchester City (Premier League).

Spurs Web Opinion

I want to be optimistic and believe that Spurs can challenge for the title next season. However, I feel that we are another season away from competing with these two clubs which are practically finished articles.

If Conte can propel Spurs above fellow Londoners Chelsea whilst reducing the gap to the top two, I will see the 2022/23 season as a success.
