Antonio Conte has said that it is possible for managers to stick around at one club for as long as Jurgen Klopp has at Liverpool, but only if everyone at the club has the same ambition and vision.

So far in his coaching career, Conte has only tended to stay with clubs for two or three years spells at a time, including Chelsea and Inter Milan.

However, the Italian has hinted during his year in North London that he might be open to a long-term project, even previously using Klopp’s success at Liverpool as an example of what can be achieved if a manager is given time (Football.London).

Ahead of his side’s showdown with the Reds this Sunday, Conte was asked about Klopp’s seven years at Liverpool and he explained that the German has been able to stay at Anfield for so long because he is on the same page as the Merseyside club’s hierarchy.

Conte told Football.London: “The length of time and the period you stay in one club it depends on many, many situations not only one or two. Jurgen found a fantastic place to work and to improve his team.

“Liverpool in this period invested a lot of money and for this reason, the club promised him to invest and improve the team. The club’s ambition was really high at Liverpool.

“I think so because then I have seen the way they improved, the money they spent in the transfer market and for this reason, he is working there for seven years. It was like this for Klopp and the same for Pep Guardiola.

“It depends on many situations. If there is a good link and the ambitions are the same, it is easier to stay for a long time in the same club.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte’s message seems to be clear – He is willing to commit to a long-term project at Tottenham only if the club completely back his vision and are willing to consistently invest money into the squad to make it stronger.

I do believe that the Spurs hierarchy will continue to back the Italian as they know that they have a world-class manager in their hands and cannot afford to let him walk away.
