According to the print edition of AS (03/06/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Real Madrid are hopeful that Daniel Levy reduces his asking price for Harry Kane as the Spurs chairman will be under pressure to do so this summer.
After it was officially announced that Karim Benzema would be leaving Real Madrid, Marca reported on Sunday that Los Blancos had already contracted Tottenham and the England captain’s representatives regarding a move to the Spanish capital.
The publication claimed that the striker was keen on a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu while Daniel Levy was open to selling the 29-year-old to a club outside the Premier League.
Kane is the subject of transfer speculation
AS have now revealed in their latest update that Kane is the ‘priority target’ to reinforce Real Madrid’s frontline this summer and that signing the striker would be a reaffirmation of the club’s commitment to Carlo Ancelotti.
The report states that the La Liga giants are aware that negotiations for the Tottenham striker will not be easy, with Levy currently valuing the player at €115m (£99m).
However, with Kane now having just one year left to run on his contract, the publication states that the Spurs chairman ‘feels the pressure’ to sell his talisman, with the Madrid hierarchy hopeful that the price could be ‘substantially lower’.
Spurs Web Opinion
The key variable in all this is whether Kane is open to moving to Real Madrid, given that he is only 47 goals away from Shearer’s record and could potentially have his pick of any club next summer since he will be a free agent.
If the striker gives the green light for a move to the Spanish capital (which I am sceptical of), then I believe that Levy would be extremely tempted to sell him as the Spurs chairman would be keen not to lose him on a free.
