Alfredo Pedulla has reported that Harry Kane is ‘very close’ to agreeing a move to Real Madrid after positive talks between Los Blancos and the Lilywhites.
The journalist reports that there was a breakthrough in discussions between Spurs and Real Madrid this afternoon, and an agreement in principle was reached.
This comes as Kane enters the final year of his contract with Tottenham, meaning Daniel Levy faces the prospect of having to sell up now or risk losing his star striker on a free next summer.
Madrid are currently preparing for life without Karim Benzema after he agreed a move to Al-Ittihad, leaving a big vacancy in the number 9 role at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Pedulla claims that Tottenham initially asked for 100-110 million for their academy graduate, but Madrid came in with an 80-90 million bid plus bonuses. It is not clarified whether this figure is in pounds or Euros.
Whatever the case, apparently an agreement in principle has been reached and ‘only a few details are missing to be perfected’ before Kane makes a move to Real Madrid. Pedulla claims ‘we are very close to the definitive agreements’.
Spurs Web Opinion:
This story has mainly been pushed by Spanish media all week but it does appear to be gaining traction. I suppose a move to Madrid would be the best of both worlds for Kane.
He would have a great chance of winning La Liga and even the Champions League, but could leave the door open to a return to Spurs and remain a one-club man in England.
You would think he could take a few years out and still return to break Alan Shearer’s record, to be honest.
