Marca have now claimed that Real Madrid have commenced their efforts to sign Harry Kane and could land Tottenham for under £70m.
The report states that Madrid have decided that they are going to sign a striker no matter what this summer, with Harry Kane being their preferred option.
It is explained that Kai Havertz was also previously an option for the La Liga giants but they have now decided against pursuing their Chelsea star and have instead already started working on a deal to sign the Spurs man.
Marca state that Real Madrid‘s reports on Kane have been positive in every aspect, with the club hearing good things about his professionalism, mentality and technical quality.
Even though Los Blancos are said to be aware that dealing with Daniel Levy will not be easy, a ‘decision has now been made’ to push ahead with a move for the England captain.
Surprising, the publication adds that Madrid could land the centre-forward this summer for just €80m (£68.8m), given that he only has a year left on his contract.
Alfredo Pedulla has reported a similar fee of €80m-€90m, but there would be add-ons included in the deal. The journalist even claims that an agreement is now ‘very close’.

While Levy might be willing to sell Kane to Real Madrid for a lower fee than he would to a Premier League side, I doubt £70m would be anywhere near enough to price the striker away.
The Spurs chairman would likely want £80m plus add-ons and it remains to be seen if the La Liga side would be willing to pay that.
