AS have claimed that Real Madrid are no longer expected to make a move for Harry Kane as the Spanish giants found the cost of the operation to be excessive.

The report states that Daniel Levy has told the Spanish giants to pay £100m for Kane, which has put off Real Madrid, who have already agreed to pay £113.5m including add-ons for Jude Bellingham this summer.

It is explained that the huge transfer fee along with the Tottenham man’s requested salary of €20m (£17m) is not appealing to the La Liga giants, particularly considering that the centre-forward is about to turn 30 next month and would subsequently have very little resale value.

Real Madrid’s interest in Kane cools

The outlet adds that Madrid’s interest in Kane has ‘irretrievably cooled’, with the Spurs striker ‘no longer an objective’ for Los Blancos.

Apart from the economic angle, AS add that another factor that discouraged Real is the fact that the Tottenham man does not fit in with their current project of trying to build a new team for the future with young players.

This might simply be a case of the Madrid hierarchy leaking this information to the press in an effort to play hardball and put pressure on Tottenham to lower their asking price.

Kane is coming off the back of yet another remarkable season for Tottenham on a personal level with 30 goals in 38 Premier League appearances which is some achievement considering how bad Spurs were over the course of the campaign.

Spurs’ stance on the matter will likely become clear over the next week once Postecoglou speaks to the striker about his future and the Tottenham hierarchy hold discussions with the 29-year-old about the possibility of a new contract.
