Football Insider have reported that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Southampton goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu, ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Spurs have been left impressed by the 21-year-old between the sticks for the Saints despite their relegation from the Premier League this season.

The new Tottenham project will apparently involve investment in future stars who can develop under a long-term manager following the failed Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte experiments.

In the race to replace Hugo Lloris at the end of the season, Bazunu has reportedly now climbed the pecking order, with the Lilywhites keeping a firm eye on the youngster.

Bazunu was signed by Southampton for just £12m last summer (Athletic), but the report does not disclose how much the shot-stopper would now be worth.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs test the water with an offer, with the club not even having a director of football or manager in place at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Getting someone like Bazunu would surely have to be a second-choice option to the new number one. Signing him as Lloris’ replacement would be far too much too soon for the youngster. If Spurs can get him for around the £15m-£20m mark, then I could see that as a decent investment.
