Gareth Bale has revealed that he has had loads of offers this summer after departing Real Madrid.
Bale has confirmed that his nine-year spell at Real Madrid will come to an end when his contract with the club runs out this month.
Reports have suggested that the winger, who netted 16 goals during his loan spell back at Tottenham in 2020/21, could return to the North London club for a third spell (El Nacional).
His agent Jonathan Barnett said last month that his client is likely to return to English football this summer but added that a decision will only be made after Wales’ World Cup qualifier against Ukraine (Record via Eurosport).
However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated last week that despite Fabio Paratici being a big fan of Bale, the feeling inside the Welshman’s camp, as well as those at Spurs, is that a return to the Lilywhites is unlikely for the player while The Telegraph claim Spurs have no plans to re-sign him.
The former Tottenham man has now admitted that he has no shortage of offers to choose from this summer.
When asked if has any offers, Bale told ESPN with a smile: “Yeah, I’ve got loads.”
So… who do we think has sent an offer to Bale and which clubs could he realistically sign for?
Cardiff – This seems to be the most popular answer at the moment. Bale started his career in Cardiff but never got to professionally appear for his hometown club. That may be something he wants to tick off his bucket list before retiring. We’ve seen how important Wales is to him and he still has family around Cardiff, so it could be the perfect move. I would expect him to sign a six-month contract, train with them, and play the odd minute here and there. He wouldn’t risk his body playing 90 minutes in the Championship every week with a World Cup coming.
Tottenham – No one thought he would come back at all, yet he did. No one seems to think he will come back again this time… but will he? Spurs have everything he needs to get himself fit for the World Cup. The best training facilities, people he knows well, fans who love him and will raise his confidence levels. If he could come back and chip in with goals off the bench as he did last time, I would be more than happy. The main obstacle would be whether Bale could keep up with Conte’s demands, although I assume he would come with his own training regime anyway.
MLS – It is no secret that Gareth Bale loves golf. So six months or a year in the MLS, soaking up the sunshine and hitting the golf course makes perfect sense. Wales are even in a World Cup group with the USA in Qatar! Players have long since headed to America at the end of their careers for a change of pace and Bale could be another in a long line.
Newcastle – If Bale wants to cash in one last big pay cheque, then Newcastle could be a safe bet. With their new owners, they can certainly afford to take him on for a year or two at huge wages. It would also be a fantastic brand deal for Newcastle, with the owners looking to make a positive name for themselves in football – think of that what you will.
Qatar – With the World Cup coming up in Qatar, could Bale follow Toby Alderweireld and make the move over there. He would be well paid and it would certainly get him acclimatised to the conditions of the tournament. After all, he came close to a big-money move to China not long ago.
