Gareth Bale has claimed that Joe Rodon deserves to be getting more game time at Tottenham Hotspur.
Rodon has been unable to get much game time under his belt since his move to the North London club from Swansea two years ago.
The 24-year-old has not made a single start in the Premier League since Antonio Conte arrived at Spurs in November of last year (PremierLeague.com).
However, Rodon has continued impressing for Wales, most recently putting in a solid display to help the Dragons beat Ukraine 1-0 and book a place in the World Cup in Qatar.
Reports have indicated that the Wales international could depart Tottenham this summer in search of regular game time (The Evening Standard).
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed recently that interest in the Tottenham defender is building this summer.
Bale has now insisted that Rodon deserved to be playing when he was on loan at Spurs last season and admitted to being bemused about his international teammate’s lack of game time at club level.
He said (via Football.London): “For me personally, I feel like he (Rodon) should be playing at Tottenham.
“I think he’s shown time and time again how good he is, I think personally when I was there last year, I felt he deserved to be playing.
“I don’t feel like he’s really had the opportunity to play a consistent run of games at Tottenham and I feel like if he did, he would be fantastic for them.”

Rodon perhaps had a case last season when our backline was struggling and it can be argued that he deserved more minutes to show what he can do. However, given the form Eric Dier displayed throughout the 2021/22 campaign, Conte cannot be blamed for not giving the 24-year-old a look-in.
