The Sun’s Tom Barclay has played down speculation linking Eberechi Eze with a move to Tottenham, with the journalist stating that Crystal Palace would demand a substantial fee for the attacking midfielder.

Eze enjoyed the best season of his career in 2022-23 after putting his injury woes behind him, with the versatile midfielder finishing the campaign with 14 goal contributions (10 goals and four assists).

The 25-year-old’s impressive displays have allegedly brought him to the attention of Spurs, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealing last week that the North London club are monitoring the player’s situation.

Tottenham’s interest in Eze was also subsequently backed up by Romano, who told AMP earlier this week that while the Lilywhites do like the England international, Palace are determined to keep hold of the player.

Could Olise staying help Spurs with Eberechi Eze?

Barclay has now asserted that after losing Wilfried Zaha, the Eagles will demand ‘mega money’ for any of their other key players this summer. However, the loss of Michael Olise, which Barclay mentions, actually didn’t end up happening, with the winger signing a new contract.

When asked about Spurs’ interest in the Palace star, the journalist said on Last Word on Spurs: “Eze, he has proven his fitness now, he was fantastic towards the end of last season.

“Palace will sell most of their players at the right price, but after losing Zaha and Olise, they will be asking for mega money for anyone else they want to keep, and Eze would be the prime candidate for that.

“I have asked about that and looked into that possibility and the word I got back on that front was probably not, not now, I don’t think so.”

It is worth pointing out that Eze has just two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park. So, unless the winger signs a new contract with Palace, this could be the last window where they can sell him for big money. So, the Eagles might be tempted if Tottenham test their resolve with a £50m-£60m offer.
