Alasdair Gold has revealed that Michael Olise’s decision to stay at Crystal Palace will help Tottenham in their pursuit of Eberechi Eze but he insisted that it would take a huge fee to lure the attacking midfielder away from Selhurst Park.
Eze had an outstanding 2022-23 campaign for the Eagles, which even resulted in the 25-year-old winning his first England cap back in June against Malta.

The former QPR star now looks ready to make a step up to a top club, and it has been widely reported over the last couple of weeks that he has emerged as a target for Spurs (Fabrizio Romano – AMP).
However, a couple of days ago, The Sun’s Tom Barclay said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast that Palace would be determined to hold on to Eze this summer as Olisie was looking set to follow Wilfried Zaha out of the door.
That situation has since changed, with the 21-year-old winger turning down Chelsea’s approach in favour of signing a four-year deal with the Eagles (Sky Sports).
Gold doubts Spurs will pay the price for Eberechi Eze
When asked if Olisie staying at Palace improves Spurs’ chances of signing Eze, Gold said on a Q&A on Football.London: “From the aspect of Palace not wanting to lose both players, it affects that of course, but with Zaha also heading off this summer they’re going to ask for big money for Eze as one of their crown jewels if they’re willing to sell at all.
“Spurs love the player and he’s a CAA Base client – who represent many of their stars and Postecoglou – but there’s some talk of £70m plus being a starting point.
“Would they spend that kind of money for a player who might end up being in rotation with Maddison as the main attacking player in a midfield three? Maddison, Eze and Bissouma might be a little bit light.
“It didn’t stop them spending a lot on Richarlison, who was a rotation option, I guess. He’d be a terrific signing but I think Palace might just put up too much of a fight this summer. Next year with a year left on his deal might be an easier time to get him, if he doesn’t also sign a new deal.”

Eze only has two years left on his contract at Palace. If the South London club feel that the player is not going to sign a new deal, this might be the final window where they can get a big fee for him.
So, they might be tempted if Tottenham table an offer of around £50m-£55m for the 25-year-old.
