Fabrizio Romano does not expect Crystal Palace to sell Eberechi Eze this summer despite Tottenham’s interest in the attacking midfielder.
Eze is now widely considered to be one of the best creative players in the Premier League, with the 25-year-old having an outstanding 2022-23 campaign after putting his injury woes behind him.
There has been a lot said and written about Tottenham’s interest in Eze over the last week, and whether Palace would be open to selling the player.
The Sun’s Tom Barclay told the Last Word on Spurs podcast a few days ago that the Eagles would not consider offers for Eze since Michael Olise was looking set to follow Wilfried Zaha through the exit door.
However, Olsie has since signed a new contract at Selhurst Park and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold remarked on Saturday while that does boost Tottenham’s chances of landing Eze, the South London side could demand over £70m for the former QPR man.
Eberechi to Spurs does not seem realistic
Romano has now also expressed his scepticism over whether the Palace star is a realistic target for Tottenham, stating that it would take a ‘really huge bid’ to sign the midfielder.
The journalist told CaughtOffside: “Honestly, I don’t see Crystal Palace selling Eberechi Eze this summer. Tottenham Hotspur really appreciate the player but there’s nothing in it at the moment. I don’t expect that to change because only a really huge bid could change the situation.”
Spurs Web Opinion
While Eze would be a brilliant signing if Tottenham somehow pull it off, I suspect the club see Brennan Johnson as the more realistic target for the attacking midfield/wide role.
However, with Chelsea now having entered the race for the Forest star, Spurs need to act quickly to land him.
