Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Eberechi Eze, who was rumoured to be a target for Tottenham in the summer, has now begun talks with Crystal Palace regarding a new contract.
It was widely reported until the end of the summer transfer window that Spurs were considering Eze as an alternative to Brennan Johnson (The Independent), but in the end, it was the Welshman who Spurs ended up signing.
Tottenham were not the only one on the Palace star’s trail at the time, with The Daily Mail reporting last month that Manchester City also had their eye on the 25-year-old.
The publication added that the Eagles valued the England international at around £70m at the time but their resolve would be tested if they received a big offer since the player’s contract at Selhurst Park runs only until 2025.
Palace want to offer a new deal to Eberechi Eze
Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Palace have already begun work to tie down Eze to a new contract.
The journalist reveals that amidst interest from the likes of Man City during the summer, the Eagles hierarchy are now in talks with the player’s camp over an extension, with negotiations set to continue over the coming weeks.

A lot of clubs will be closely watching how these contract talks unfold as one would expect Palace to listen to offers for Eze in January if they are not successful in tying the 25-year-old to a new deal.
