The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.
Since the closure of the January transfer window, multiple outlets (Football.London and The Athletic) have claimed that Spurs are expected to sign two central defenders in the summer.
This claim has now been backed by The Mail, who say that Antonio Conte’s men will look for two new centre-backs since Clement Lenglet’s loan is expiring and Davinson Sanchez could be on his way out.
The publication states that Guehi, who was come on leaps and bounds since his switch to Palace 18 months ago, is ‘prominent’ in Tottenham’s plans.
The England international has started all but one game across all competitions for Patrick Vieira’s men this season (Transfermarkt) and was unlucky to miss out on the Three Lions squad for the World Cup.
It is explained that while Palace are keen to hold on to the 22-year-old, they would consider selling the defender if they receive an offer in excess of £45m.
Spurs Web Opinion
Guehi has the attributes to play anywhere across Conte’s three-man backline and the fact that he is homegrown would make him an especially attractive option for Spurs. A fee of £45m is, by no means, unreasonable for a centre-back of his age and potential.
