The Evening Standard have revealed that Chelsea have a sell-on clause and a right-to-match option for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.
The Daily Mail revealed on Thursday that Spurs are expected to be in the market for two centre-backs in the summer as Clement Lenglet’s loan spell will expire and there are doubts over the future of Davinson Sanchez.
The report asserted that Guehi features prominently on Tottenham’s wishlist and that Palace could be tempted to cash in on the defender if they receive an offer upwards of £45m.
The Evening Standard have now also reported on Spurs’ interest in the Eagles star but they explain that the Blues could have an advantage over the Lilywhites if they enter the race for the England international.
This is because Graham Potter’s men are thought to have a ‘sizeable’ sell-on clause for Guehi and an option to match any offer that other clubs make for the defender.
However, the publication asserts that the centre-back’s representatives do not expect Chelsea to make a move after the West London club snapped up Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly in the last six months.

Guehi fits the bill for Tottenham on several counts as he could play across the back three and has Premier League experience under his belt. The fact that he is homegrown and has high resale value means that the 22-year-old will undoubtedly rank high on Paratici’s wishlist.
