Journalist Dean Jones revealed in his column for GiveMeSport that Tottenham target Marc Guehi has now emerged as a prime Arsenal centre-back target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Tottenham‘s interest in Marc Guehi was reported back in March when Football Transfers claimed the Lilywhites believe the Palace star is a perfect fit for the profile of defender they are looking for.
The report added that Spurs were at the front of the queue for the England international’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mail reported at the start of this month that the Lilywhites could face competition from their North London rivals for Geuhi while Foot Mercato subsequently claimed last week that the centre-back had also emerged as a target for Man Utd.
If Jones’ latest update is to be believed, Spurs and Arsenal now appear set to go head-to-head for the Palace star’s signature this summer.
The journalist reveals that the Gunners are keen to bolster their options in central defence and have now identified the former Chelsea man as ‘a prime candidate’ to replace Rob Holding.
It is alleged that Mikel Arteta’s men expect to face competition from Spurs for Guehi, who is thought to be valued in excess of £50m by the Eagles.
Spurs Web Opinion
Realistically, it is going to be difficult for Spurs to beat Arsenal (or Man Utd) to Guehi’s signature this summer, given that we are not in any European competitions next season.
I fear that our poor ends to the season would make several of our rumoured targets, including the likes of Guehi and Maddison, to have some doubts regarding whether it would be the right move for them.
