Thomas Frank has said that he is a fan of Richarlison and backed the Brazilian to score a lot of goals this season for Tottenham.
Replacing Harry Kane will certainly not be an easy ask for Spurs, with the England captain having not just been a reliable goalscorer but also the club’s creator-in-chief over recent years.
Kane scored a whopping 30 Premier League goals last season in a misfiring Tottenham side, who limped to an eighth-placed finish and there have understandably been a lot of questions over the last couple of days regarding where those goals are going to come from this season (Sky Sports).
While some outlets have backed Spurs to enter the market for a big-name replacement (Football Insider), it is clear that Richarlison will get the first crack at leading the line for the Lilywhites.
Thomas Frank had lots of nice words for Richarlison
The former Everton man had a frustrating first outing on Sunday as he was feeding off scraps, with Brentford denying Tottenham’s attackers much time or space in the final third.
However, Frank, who saw his side hold Spurs to a 2-2 draw at home, believes that goals will come for Richarlison this season.
The Dane told Sky Sports Super Sunday (1:30 PM on 13/8): It was England’s number nine, replaced by Brazil’s number nine. He’s a very good player, Richarlison, and I back him to score a lot of goals this season.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Even though we hardly created any chances for Richarlison yesterday, the 26-year-old worked tirelessly and was a handful for the Brentford backline throughout the 90 minutes.
I thought our forward players could have played him in sooner on a couple of occasions rather than dueling on the ball but that bit of rustiness was to be expected in the first game of the campaign.
