Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, but journalist Dean Jones believes the Bees could demand up to £100m for the player.
Now that Harry Kane has made the move to Bayern Munich, Tottenham have a big hole in their attacking line to fill. Replacing the England captain is something of an impossible task, but the Lilywhites do now have another £100m in the bank which could help.
Spurs have long been admirers of Brentford’s star man, Ivan Toney, with the 27-year-old regularly touted as the perfect candidate to fill Kane’s boots (Football Transfers).
According to a recent report from The Athletic, the North London club could make a move for Toney in the January transfer window, once his ban for breaching the FA’s gambling rules has been served.
Alasdair Gold backed up this claim, suggesting Spurs will look at Toney in January, but he also questioned whether the move could happen.
Brentford will want £100m for Ivan Toney
Now, Dean Jones has added his doubts over the idea of a transfer coming to fruition, as he suggested Brentford could price Toney out of a move.
Jones told GiveMeSport: “Toney is a deal that they have started to explore, but that will come down to how realistic Brentford are in terms of what his value is. It seems they might price him out of a move like this.
“So, there’s no particular optimism at this stage for Tottenham making much headway with that. If they were to look for another forward, they’ve been linked with Romelu Lukaku, but I’m very sceptical about that. I don’t think that’s something that is going to happen.”

Ivan Toney would be a brilliant signing for Spurs and would instantly step into a similar role that Kane filled for us. He won’t come cheap, but he is definitely worth looking at when January comes around.
