The Daily Express have revealed that Ivan Toney has now informed Brentford he wants to leave the club during the January transfer window.
Last week, we relayed a report from The Mirror which claimed that Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea are eyeing moves for Toney in January as soon as his ban lapses.
The report claimed that Brentford would demand £60m for the striker even though he will only have 18 months left on his deal, with the outlet adding that the Bees would be happy to keep him at the club until the summer if that valuation is not met.
Toney has explained his desire to leave Brentford
The Express have now said that Toney, who returned to training last week, has now informed Brentford that he wants a new challenge.
The 27-year-old allegedly held a meeting with Thomas Frank to inform him of his decision.
The publication also names the aforementioned three London clubs as the ones leading the race for Toney’s signature, with Brentford already said to have started looking for potential replacements in anticipation of the England international’s exit.
Spurs Web Opinion
I expect Chelsea to win the race for Toney’s signature as they are desperately in need of a centre-forward and a goalscorer, much more so than either Spurs or Arsenal.
I do not think singing an out-and-out number nine would be Posteocoglou’s priority in January as he seems to be happy with a fluid frontline.
