The “it’s only Spurs lads” days are over at Tottenham and we must now be regarded as one of Europe’s best teams, according to Roy Keane.

The lads impressed in earning a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on tuesday, which puts us in with a great chance of reaching the last 16.

Former Republic of Ireland captain Keane feels manager Mauricio Pochettino has comprehensively changed the way Spurs are regarded, and they will be seen as side to be avoided should they make the knock-out stages.

Speaking on ITV, Keane said: ‘Spurs are rock solid. They are full of energy, brave with courage, they belong with top teams in Europe. The manager and players deserve credit.

‘You looked at the group at the start and obviously you thought Dortmund would be difficult, but it looks like they get out of the group and will be a threat.

‘They are short of one or two to go and win this trophy, but in the knock-out stages they have a great chance.’

Keane’s fellow pundit and former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon did admit Spurs are better than the his former team, with Keane adding that Spurs were in fact: ‘Miles better’.

The lads have began their Champions League campaign impressively, while the Gunners have to settle for the Europa League. It is all starting to properly come together and long may it continue.

Do you agree with Keane, are we one of the big boys now or perhaps we have to win a trophy this year to justify our position at the top table. Let us know your thoughts on Keane’s words.
