Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult start to the new Premier League campaign continued yesterday afternoon after they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Leicester City.
The Foxes thought they had taken the lead when Wilfred Ndidi scored on the rebound after Paulo Gazzaniga spilled Youri Tielemans’ shot but the goal was correctly ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee.
Harry Kane had put the visitors ahead in the first half when he somehow managed to bundle the ball into the back of the net, despite losing his footing in the Leicester penalty area.
After the break, Serge Aurier looked to have doubled their lead only for VAR to chalk off the goal after Heung-min Son was deemed to be marginally offside in the build up.
Leicester hit back with two unanswered goals to leave Spurs with just eight points from their opening six Premier League matches.
Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane believes that with Tottenham’s current form, Manchester United could look to finish fourth in the table.
He told Sky Sports Premier League before the broadcast of West Ham vs Man Utd earlier today: “The way Arsenal and Tottenham are looking, United should be expecting to finish fourth,
“That’s there for them, with the players they have they’re capable of getting fourth.
“That’s where the pressure comes onto Ole because there has to be some sort of pressure on him. You can’t be saying: ‘We’ve got a two to three year plan.’ That’s nonsense as well. You’ve got to win football matches consistently at big clubs.”
Opinion
Keane may have been left to rethink his prediction after Manchester United lost 2-0 at West Ham.
Spurs need to focus on themselves, not what other clubs are doing around them. We need to get back to basics and bring back our pressing game and learn to shut out matches when leading.
