Roy Keane has criticised Harry Kane’s display against Hungary last night after admitting that the Tottenham man does not look up to speed.

Kane is yet to open his account in the Premier League this season and the striker’s performances for Spurs have left a lot to be desired.

The Mirror put the 28-year-old’s sluggish performances down to his failed move to Manchester City in the summer.

England boss Gareth Southgate insisted ahead of his side’s World Cup qualifier against Hungary that the striker’s situation at club level does not affect the Three Lions, pointing out that Kane scored three goals in an England shirt last month.

However, the Spurs star put in another disappointing display at Wembley after England were held to a 1-1 draw.

Speaking after the game, Keane insisted that something was certainly off with the England captain, admitting that he looks far from his best in general play.

The former Manchester United man told ITV: “There’s a little grumble with Harry Kane.

“When he’s on it he’s fantastic, but when he’s off it – we’ve seen it many times before, it almost looks like he’s on his heels, can’t get up to speed with the game.

“Whatever’s going on at club level, he does need to do a bit more when he’s not at his best in terms of his general play.”

I agree with Keane that it is not Kane’s lack of goals that is the big concern as I am sure he will find his scoring boots soon. What is more concerning is how off-the-pace he looks in general play. It does seem like the striker has lost a bit of confidence over recent months.
