Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane believes that Dele Alli needs to leave Tottenham Hotspur, claiming the player has lost his way in north London.

Dele was left out of Antonio Conte’s squad for the Premier League clash at Chelsea yesterday afternoon.

The 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2024 (transfermarkt), has made 10 Premier League appearances this season and was an unused substitute in their two most recent games prior to the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Dele has been linked with a move to strugglers Newcastle United (The Sun) with the Magpies having become the richest club in the top flight following their takeover late last year (Marca).

Keane believes that a move to the Magpies could rejuvenate his career in the North East and become a darling among the Toon Army faithful.

The 50-year-old, who was appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports Premier League said after the 2-0 defeat for Antonio Conte’s side: “I think the kid’s lost the eye of the tiger.  I think sometimes you have to let a kid go.

“That’s the nature of football. You’ve done your time here, you’ve obviously lost your way, be good to the kid, you’ve been a good signing for us.

“They paid £5m for him, let the kid go.”

When asked by Jamie Redknapp about where Dele could end up, Keane added: “To Newcastle, [He could] get his career going up there,”

Keane continued. “The fans would love him if he comes in.”

Dele’s career has stalled in recent seasons and it would certainly be in the best interests of all if he were to leave the club this month.   Spurs may also want to try and cash in, given the length of contract he has at the club to maximise his value.
