Fabrizio Romano has revealed that while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been offered to Manchester United, there has been no direct contact between the Red Devils and Tottenham regarding the Dane.

On Monday, The Telegraph revealed that United were now considering a surprise late move for Hojbjerg, with Tottenham said to be keen on offloading the midfielder before the transfer deadline.

The outlet claimed that despite Spurs accepting Atletico Madrid’s £30m offer for the 28-year-old earlier this summer, the move collapsed due to the La Liga club’s inability to agree personal terms with the player.

It was asserted that Hojberjg had even turned down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia recently, and a potential switch to Old Trafford has now emerged as a possibility for the former Southampton man.

Hojbjerg to Man United seems unlikely right now

However, Romano has now explained that even though the Tottenham man has been offered to the United, he is not likely to be the club’s priority midfield target.

The journalist told Men in Blazers YouTube channel: “The midfielder is the real priority [for Man Utd]. We know they had contacts for Sofyan Amrabat.

“Also Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham has been offered to Manchester United in the last couple of days. But at the moment, no direct contact between clubs yet for Hojbjerg. So I’m not sure it’s going to be a priority target.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Even though Postecoglou might not see Hojbjerg as a regular starter, the Australian evidently values the Dane as a squad player. While Tottenham appear to be open to cashing in on the 28-year-old if they receive a suitable offer in the next couple of days, I would be extremely surprised if they sold the midfielder to a direct rival.
