Leicester at home in the FA cup next. It seems safe to say that the Brave New World we hoped might be dawning after the events of New Year’s Day hasn’t as yet fully poked its head properly above the horizon. Three wins, a draw and a loss since then isn’t to be sneezed at but the draw was emimently forgettable, the victories hard won and the loss disappointing given that we had the lead with half an hour to go.

It’s all getting a bit busy of course. January 23rd and we’ve already played 6 games this year. Add the two post Christmas games and the three we’ll play before the end of the month and that 11 games in 37 days. Best we try and avoid a replay.

It’s hard to know what to expect team selection wise as clearly we’re going to need our strongest side for Wednesday night and will want to keep as many key players fresh as we can. Kane, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Walker, even Stambouli & Townsend – the trouble is, who do you replace them with? The team selection will be interesting especially up front of course where the choice of Adebayor caused such a fuss in the week. He’ll feature somewhere, unless his troublesome back plays him up of course. It could also be a big game for Soldado given that we’re approaching the last week of the transfer window. I assume Chadli’s not back yet.

If we’ve got the cups distracting us then Leicester have the league, they currently sit bottom of the table but are showing signs of life after a string of consecutive defeats having won 2 of their last 4 in the league. There’s a good chance that they too will want to rest players but they might want to give Kramaric a start and a taste of what it’s like on a freezing Saturday in England.

The start of the eleven games I refer to above was at Leicester on Boxing Day when we spawnily nicked the points. The sides will look very different to that day I imagine but all sides in the top division have quality in them of course so we should expect nothing but a tough tie, a tough tie we should win though.

Robert Madley is down to referee.

COYS.
