Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to turn his attention to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, all but admitting defeat in luring Harry Kane away from Tottenham.
The former Tottenham manager is preparing to take over Chelsea in the summer and will have a big job on his hands to improve on what has been a nightmare season for the West London club.
Chelsea are currently 12th in the Premier League table with two games remaining. The highest they can finish is 11th, and after a massive outlay in transfer funds across the campaign, questions are being asked about the club’s recruitment.
It is thought a new striker is a top priority for Chelsea in the summer transfer window. There has been talk of Chelsea coming in for Harry Kane (talkSPORT), who has just one year left on his current contract at Spurs.
Now, the latest from talkSPORT’s transfer notebook suggests Pochettino is exploring other options as he doesn’t feel he can persuade Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell to him at Chelsea.
Napoli’s prolific striker Osimhen is now thought to be at the “head of [Chelsea’s] summer shopping list,” as a move across London to Tottenham’s “fierce rivals” is looking “highly unlikely” for Kane.
Pochettino is believed to be keen for a “reunion” with Kane but may now see Osimhen as a more realistic target.
It is said a fee of £125 million may be required to sign the 24-year-old marksman from the Italian champions.
Spurs Web Opinion
Surely, there is no way Levy would sell Kane to Chelsea. The Spurs fans are already angry with him, but it would cause absolute chaos if he were to sell our star man to a fierce rival.
Victor Osimhen feels like a better fit for Chelsea anyway, to be fair, and I can definitely see them making that deal happen.
