Fabrizio Romano claims Tottenham are currently looking at Gift Orban and Jonathan David as potential striker options now that Harry Kane has left North London.

The Italian journalist says Spurs are on the lookout for a new forward but they want the right profile of player, rather than being pressured into signing a Kane replacement.

Orban is said to be seen as ‘an opportunity’ for the Lilywhites and Daniel Levy and co are already familiar with the conditions of a potential deal, even if they have not yet sent a bid.

Jonathan David, meanwhile, is also on Tottenham’s radar, although he is deemed too expensive at this moment in time because of his £51m price tag.

David has repeatedly been linked with Spurs over recent weeks (Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness) and is allegedly the man Fabio Paratici wanted to sign as Kane’s successor (Ben Jacobs).

Meanwhile, Gift Orban is said to prefer a move to Lille, ironically Jonathan David’s club, because he is not happy with the prospect of being second choice in N17 (DeMorgen).

Fabrizio Romano says Spurs like Orban and David

Fabrizio said (via ThatsFootballTV): “They (Spurs) could sign a new striker, the idea is to sign a new striker but they want the right player, at the right price, not to spend money on a player they don’t trust 100%. They are discussing also with Postecoglou about that.

“Gift Orban remains an opportunity, he is one of the names they are considering and they know the conditions of the deal but have not sent an official bid at the moment.

“Another player Tottenham really appreciate is Jonathan David from Lille. However, at the moment, David is considered too expensive as Lille will demand €60m.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gift Orban seems like the kind of player we have seen down the years where Spurs don’t take a punt on him, then he’s suddenly worth £100m in a few years. Look at James Maddison, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, etc.
