Journalist Rudy Galetti has said that Lille’s Jonathan David remains right at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Harry Kane, alongside Gent’s Gift Orban.
There has been an unending amount of speculation linking Orban with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks (Fabrizio Romano – ThatsFootballTV) but over the last few days, some outlets have suggested that a move for the striker might not prove straightforward.
Both Voetbalkrant and De Morgen reported earlier this week that Tottenham are not prepared to meet Gent’s €30m (£25.5m) asking price for the 21-year-old, with the former suggesting that the likes of Fulham and Lille are also circling over the youngster.
Jonathan David is also at the top of Spurs’ list
Galetti has now said that while Spurs continue to have an eye on Orban, the North London club like David just as much as the Nigerian.
The journalist claims that the club have followed the Canadian international, who scored 26 goals in 40 appearances last season for Lille, for a ‘long time’.
Galetti told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham in this moment are more focused on the exit market, but speaking about incomings, a possible incoming move for sure to find the replacement for Harry Kane is a task with a top priority.
“Together with Orban as told before, the other name at the top of their list, followed for a long time is David.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I do think Tottenham will get a deal for Orban over the line once a few of their unwanted players leave over the coming days. However, Spurs will not want to be held to ransom by Gent, which is why they will have identified other alternatives, including David.
