Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has now said that Gift Orban looks unlikely to join Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closes on Friday night.
The pressure of having to fill Harry Kane’s shoes is already starting to tell on Richarlison, who is yet to find the back of the net in the Premier League so far this campaign.
Following the Brazilian’s struggles against Bournemouth on Saturday, an increasing number of Spurs fans are now desperate to see the club sign a new number nine before the window slams shut.
Orban, who has set Belgian football alight since moving to Gent in January, is the striker who has most heavily been linked with Tottenham, with journalist Dean Jones telling The Football Terrace just a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites remain confident of concluding a deal for the Nigerian.

However, Thomas has now said on the Last Word On Spurs podcast that the North London club are now looking unlikely to sign Orban or any other centre-forward in the final few days of the window.
The Sky Sports reporter explained that Tottenham are now looking to move for a wide-forward such as Brennan Johnson rather than an out-and-out striker.

Perhaps Postecoglou feels that Johnson can operate across the front three and with the option of Son also playing through the middle, he does not see another number nine as a priority.
There is also the possibility that Tottenham are plotting a big-money move for Ivan Toney in January, which is why they are unsure about signing another centre-forward right now.
