Foot Mercato report that Rennes are accelerating the idea of signing Davinson Sanchez as they seek to fill a hole in the centre of their defence this summer.

The report claims that Rennes received a loan offer from RB Leipzig for defender Arthur Theate recently, which would come with a compulsory €30m purchase clause.

Rennes are increasingly interested in Sanchez

Rennes ideally want to reply to the offer this week, and so are working behind the scenes to find Theate’s replacement before they part ways with the Belgian.

Spurs have offered Sanchez to Rennes multiple times so far this summer, the same club they loaned Joe Rodon and Djed Spence to last season.

The Lilywhites are looking to charge between £8.5m and £10.2m for the Colombian, who has just one year remaining on his current contract, and he is now seen as a ‘serious option’ by the Ligue 1 side.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This could be one to watch over the coming days as it sounds like there could be a centre-back domino effect. I would be surprised if no one saw Sanchez as good value for money at under £10m, even if it hasn’t worked out at Tottenham. He is still only 27 years of age.
