Football Insider have claimed that FC Augsburg are now in advanced talks over a deal to sign Japhet Tanganga on loan.

Tanganga is one of several first-team stars who is surplus to requirements for Ange Postecoglou, with the defender not having been named in any matchday squad this season.

On Tuesday night, Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Torino had entered the race to sign Tanganga before Friday evening’s transfer deadline

The journalist stated that the Serie A club were looking for a replacement for Atalanta-bound centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno and had settled on the Spurs player as their top target.

Calciomeracto.it subsequently claimed yesterday that the Italian club were facing competition for Tanganga’s services from Premier League duo, Everton and Luton Town.

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, it is Ausburg who are now in pole position to sign the Tottenham academy graduate.

The report states that the German club are keen to add some defensive depth to their side after conceding seven goals in their opening two Bundesliga fixtures, and have now set their sights on Tanganga.

The outlet claims that the Bavarian club are now in ‘advanced talks’ with Spurs over a temporary deal for the 24-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

There was always going to be plenty of late interest in Tottenham’s unwanted players but it appears like the club will have to once again loan out the bulk of them rather than sell them permanently, which is far from ideal.
