Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Japhet Tanganga is set to seal a move to Augsburg before tonight’s transfer deadline.
The reports of Augsburg’s interest in Tanganga first emerged yesterday when Football Insider reported that the Bundesliga side had moved into pole position to land the Tottenham man.
The report claimed that the German club were keen to strengthen their backline following their disappointing start to the season and that they were in ‘advanced talks’ with Spurs over a loan deal for the 24-year-old.
Japhet Tanganga to join Augsburg
Romano has now taken to social media to give his ‘here we go’ seal of approval for the transfer.
The journalist revealed that Augsburg will sign Tanganga on a season-long loan deal with the option to make it permanent, with the defender expected to complete his medical this morning.
However, Romano did add that Spurs are remaining ‘cautious’ until all the documents are signed and the transfer is fully completed.
He wrote on X: “Understand Augsburg are set to sign Japhet Tanganga deal, here we go!
“One year loan plus buy option clause, medical in the morning then waiting for documents to be signed.
“Tottenham cautious until deal signed but verbal agreement done.”

Spurs Web Opinion
It now seems like Spurs have successfully offloaded both Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon ahead of tonight.
That still leaves the club with plenty of work to do in terms of outgoings as they need to agree deals for the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Hugo Lloris and potentially Bryan Gil before the deadline.
