The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Torino’s Perr Shuurs before the transfer window shuts.
It looks like Tottenham are set to have a major clear-out at the back before the transfer deadline, with reports over the last 24 hours indicating that Eric Dier (The Athletic), Japhet Tanganga (Football Insider) and Davinson Sanchez (Gianluca Di Marzio) are expected to leave the club.
That would leave Ange Postecoglou with no recognised backup to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, which is why Spurs would presumably want to bring multiple new central defenders through the door.
Tottenham could look at Perr Schuurs again
Shuurs was mooted as one of Tottenham’s top centre-back targets earlier this summer (GiveMeSport) but the speculation linking the Torino star with a move to North London has since died down over the last few weeks.
Mokbel has now suggested that the 23-year-old remains on Spurs’ wishlist and that a late deal for the Dutchman remains on the cards.
The journalist told on the Last Word on Spurs: “I think Perr Schuurs has got legs and they have looked at that deal a lot over the summer.
“For some reason, they haven’t pressed the button on that, but it will be interesting to see if Eric Dier goes out how Tottenham react to that situation.
“At the moment he doesn’t figure in the plans at all. If he goes out then they will need, in my opinion, to replace him.”

If Spurs offload Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga, they would ideally need to get two central defenders through the door (potentially Shuurs and Adaribaoyo). However, I think the more likely scenario is that we sign one centre-back and keep one of those three.
