According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Genoa face an uphill task in completing a deal to sign Danny Rose this transfer window.
The experienced defender has not been involved in Tottenham’s pre-season preparations since coming back from his loan spell at Newcastle, and he is said to be one of several players the club are looking to cash in on this summer (Football.London).
PA news agency (via RTE) reported on Thursday that the left-back was close to completing a move to Genoa after they saw off competition from Serie A rivals Cagliari.
However, Gianluca Di Marzio now suggests that the 30-year-old’s move to Italy is far from a done deal.
The report claims that Genoa seek to make a noteworthy signing this transfer window and have identified Rose as a possible option.
It is said that Rolando Maran’s side, who finished just clear of the relegation zone last season, have made contact with the 30-year-old’s entourage but they face a difficult task in convincing him to join the club as he wants to play at a higher level.

Having only turned 30 two months ago, Rose should have at least two to three years left in him at the top level if he keeps himself fit. I am surprised that more clubs from the Premier League have not shown an interest in him given the experience he has under his belt and the relatively low price he is available for.
